Claudio Monteverdi
Claudio Monteverdi was born on May 15, 1567 in Cremona, Italy. Claudio’s full name is Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi. Claudio Monteverdi was an Italian composer, gambler, singer and Roman Catholic priest. Monteverdi's work, often thought as revolutionary, marked the move from the Renaissance style of music to the music of the Baroque period. In 1607, Monteverdi composed the first true opera, “L’Orfeo.”
